COME WIND, RAIN OR SHINE BIG BOYS TOYS IS HAPPENING SATURDAY 9 MARCH
THE SHOW WILL GO ON! Freightliner’s Big Boys Toys event is returning to Daimler Trucks Sunshine Coast on Saturday 9 March and the event organisers say; “The show will go on!”
This is the second time this high-octane, family-friendly, event has been held at the Forest Glen dealership. And it’s predicted to be a BIG hit with customers, friends and families of the locally owned and operated trucking dealership. From 12 noon on Saturday, the huge dealership is set to transform into an oversized BIG BOYS TOYS, energy pumping arena.
Marketing Manager Jane Chapman says; “The event was originally set to happen 23rd of February, but a severe weather warning predicted Cyclone Oma was due to hit the Sunshine Coast on this date. We decided we didn’t want our customers and their ‘pride and joys’ to risk the elements and therefore made the call to move the extravaganza to this Saturday 9 March.”
Jane says; “Our inaugural 2018, smaller scale, show featured the Freightliner / Harley racing and a handful of customers TOYS on show. This year however, we’ve already achieved a record number of both registered TOYS (60) and event guests (over 425) and we are anticipating an even BIGGER turn out on the day.”
The event, brainchild of Dealer Principal Chris Spence, started as a fun way to thank loyal customers for their ongoing support. Chris says; “The event has taken on a life of its own with more than twice the number of TOYS and guests registering than last year.” And it’s not only the number of TOYS and guests that will be bigger this year either. Chris goes on to say; “We have increased everything this year, TOYS, guests, food, drinks, entertainment and don’t forget the cash prizes, which we have doubled to $500 each, for the 4 winning TOYS.”
A multitude of cool, quirky and eye-catching TOYS are registered for display on the day. From the biggest, a customer’s ex-army Mercedes-Benz Oshkosh HEMTT 8x8 which is literally 8m long, to the smallest a bright green Stock Racing car. From the oldest, a beautifully restored 1929 Chevvie to the newest a smoking hot white Lotus 5.
The plethora of TOYS aren’t the only things this free-family event has got going for it with locals The American Hot Dog Van, Donut Co, Moffat Beach Brewing Co and Sol Bar’s very own DJ Josh bringing their services for the day. Plus, the kids are going to be well taken care of with a gigantic bouncy castle and kids show bags.
The free event culminates in a fuel filled, ’rev the engines’ demo and prize ceremony where 4 x $500 cash prizes will be awarded to the lucky TOY owners who take out the coveted ‘best on show’ categories.
